One of the best parts of the movie, and my very own personal philosophy. Keating inspires the boys to “Seize the day!!!”, as a prologue to his philosophy of free thought, transcendentalism, and individualism.

@SparklingLime9 I …
@SparklingLime9 I think it’s an allusion to his being a intellectual weakling as an analogue to the weakling in Charles Atlas advertisements,? that gets sand kicked in his face – then he follows the workout programme advertised, and later beats up the bully. The ads are rather famous, too. Seems more like the kind of joke a school boy would get.

@comfybluechair …
@comfybluechair Byron’s most famous poem “She Walks in Beauty” is ultimately about eternal beauty, being captured in a poem. I think he meant? people would kick copies of that in his face to illustrate the difference between this beautiful creature painted in the poem and himself.

@comfybluechair Mr. …
@comfybluechair Mr. Keating is portrayed as a Romanticist. Being a Romanticist, he would be intrigued by romanticist writings. It isn’t particularly a joke,? per say, but interested in focusing on the positives rather than the negatives, the same way the content of Byrons books did.

You will look back years from now – and wonder that you didn’t get it. There is no reason not to follow you heart.”

I wanted to cry near the ending after what happened to Neil, he was my favorite, and not just because he’s Wilson? from House. On another note, if one of my teachers started whispering carpe diem, I believe all students, and even a handful of teachers, in attendance would give them a funny look.
