The Roots feat. Common – Act too (Love of my life)

really good song from the 1999 album “Things fall apart”…classic album and track!

Lyrics:
What?
Hip-Hop y’all, to the top y’all
Hip-Hop check it out
It’s like that, and it sounds so nice
Hip-Hop, you the love of my life
We bout to take it to the to the to the
To the to the to the to the
To the to the to the to the
To the to the to the to the check it out
Yo, what? And it sounds so nice
Hip-Hop, you the love of my life
I’m bout to take it to the top, what?
Hip-Hop (hip-hop love)
To the top (to the top) hip-hop, check it out
It’s like, word up, and it sounds so nice
Hip-Hop, you the love of my life (of my life)

[Black Thought]
The anticipation arose as time froze
I stared off the stage with my eyes closed and dove
into the deep cosmos
The impact pushed back, the first five rows
But before the raw live shows
I remember I’se a little snot-nosed
Rockin Gazelle, goggles and Izod clothes
Learnin the ropes of ghetto survival
Peepin out the situation I had to slide through
Had to watch my back my front plus my sides too
When it came to gettin mine I ain’t tryin, to argue
Sometimes I wouldn’ta made it if it wasn’t for you
Hip-Hop, you the love of my life and that’s true
When I was handlin the I had to do
It was all for you, from the door for you
Speak through you, gettin paper on tour for you
From the start, Thought was down by law for you
Used to hit up every corner store wall for you
We ripped shit, and kept it hardcore for you
I remember late nights, steady rockin the mic
Hip-Hop, you the love of my life
So tell the people like that y’all (that y’all)
And it sounds so nice
Hip-Hop, you the love of my life
We bout to take it to the top..

[Common]
Yo, yo I was speakin, to my guy ‘Riq and
How she was desperately seekin to Organize in a Konfusion
Usin, no protection, told H.E.R. on _Resurrection_
Caught in the Hype Williams, and lost H.E.R. direction
Gettin eight/ate in sections where I wouldn’t eat H.E.R.
An under the counter love, so _Silent_-ly I _Treat_ H.E.R.
Her Daddy’ll beat H.E.R., eyes all Puff-ed
In the mix on tape, niggaz had her in the buff
When we touch, it was more than just a
The Police, in her I found peace (like who?)
Like Malcolm in the East
Seen H.E.R. on the streets of New York, trickin off
Tried to make a hit with H.E.R. but my dick went soft
Movin weight, losin weight, not picky – with who she choose to date
To confuse the hate, with her struggle I relate
Close to thirty, most of the niggaz she know is dirty
Havin more babies than Lauryn, she started showin early
As of late I realized, that this is H.E.R. fate
Or destiny that brings the best of me
It’s like God is testin me
In _Retrospect_ I see she brought _Life_ and death to me
Peace to us collectively, live and direct when we perform
It’s just coffee shop chicks and white dudes
Over H.E.R. I got into it with that nigga Ice Cube
Now the fight moved to in life, makin the right moves
Besides God and family, you my life’s jewel
Like that y’all
Hip-Hop.. *echoes*

[whispered]
Take it to the top, what? Hip-Hop (hip-hip)
To the top, hip-hop (hip-hop) check it out

[Black Thought - louder]
It’s like, word up, and it sounds nice
Hip-Hop, you the love of my life, what?
Bout to take you to the to the to the
To the to the to the to the
To the to the to the to the
To the to the to the to the, yo
Fifth Dynamite, and it sounds so nice
Hip-Hop, you the love of my life
I’m bout to take you to the top love
Hip-Hop, word up, to the top (to the top)
Hip-Hop, check it out
It’s like that, what? And it sounds alright
Hey, cause you the love of my life
I’m bout to take you to the to the to the
To the to the to the to the
To the to the to the to the
To the to the to the to the, check it out
What? Yeah, and it sounds so nice
Hip-Hop, you the love of my life
Bout to take you to the top love
Hip-Hop (hip-hop) to the top (to the top) hip-hop (hip-hop)
Fifth Dynamite, and it sounds alright
Hey, cause you the love of my life
I’m bout to take you to the to the to the
To the to the to the to the
To the to the to the to the
To the to the to the to the, check it out, yo
Ye-yeh-yo, yo, and it sounds so nice
Hip-Hop, you the love of my life
We bout to take you to the top love, hip-hop (hip-hop)
To the top (to the top) hip-hop (hip-hop)
Check it out, it’s like, yeah, and it’s sounds alright
Hip-Hop, you the love of my life
We bout, take it to the to the to the *vocals fade*

Sathya Sai Baba

Many of us are still feeling the “void” after Swami has left us. The LORD was always at his best, cheerful and energetic. For many of us the personal ” oneness” with the lord will never go away. He has given enough LOVE to us for this life. ‘My life is my message’, was his simple motto. From morning to midnight, he always used to be on the go, ever cheerful and ever smiling.

One darshan of him, used to make us think why are we not joyfull like him, instead being full of worry?. Swami highlighted this by saying to have joy, you need to be happy. Happiness has no season, no reason.

My pilgrimage from Melbourne to Parthi for Christmas2009 along with music choir group. I had planned out a quick visit to Swami in Parthi and then my family wanted to spend time with them seeing other places. For some reason Swami had other plans. He never allowed Australian choir group to perform, he would use some excuse to make us stay back. It meant our 3 day trip became 3 week trip. All devotees from other countries had their presentations to Swami but not us? Why ?

Swami always says leave it to me, but we used to get worked up, is that some thing wrong with us that he did not want to see us. The inability to perform before “Mother Sai” disappointed us, in addition to change in travel plans and cancellation of tickets. This upset my family members but they were adjusting. It is only later I realized that Swami was ‘fulfilling” my long wish to stay in Parthi that was granted.

For the non believers they can’t make them believe, but the believers they have read, understood and experienced his kind acts, he is GOD in human form.

Being a student at Anantapur campus was tough, as one has to adhere to the standards of discpline and duty, but the toughness helped all the way in my family life. In spite of family life pressures, we always took time to visit our lord, there should no regrets. Swami always used to say, I am with you, so do not worry about my physical body.

His departure only makes us begin to look within. Swami is here with us, ALWAYS. SAIRAM to all my brothers and Sisters, I am sure you would enjoy this video. Leave a comment, if you can.

Kavana – Special Kind Of Something

I initially uploaded Kavana’s ‘Funky Love’ from another account, but decided to put the rest of the ‘Instinct’ album online for everyone to enjoy.

Instinct was one of my favourite albums in my teens… And after listening to it 10 years later, despite having some corny moments (as all other 90s teenybopper acts did), I still think it’s a half-decent pop album!

This is Special Kind Of Something, the first track and also the first single off the album.

The second single ‘Funky Love’ can be found here:

Random Acts Of Kindness

This is my assignment from Santa Monica College. The assignment was to write a 5 page short story in script format, select crew and cast actors. The time limit was one class period which was 4 hours to setup, shoot and breakdown the equipment. This video is a rough cut until I take the editing class in the fall. This is my first project and it was a great learning experience. I expect future projects to improve drastically.

RAOK (Random Acts of Kindness)

This woman is AMAZING. Seriously, I never in a million years would have expected anything close to this from an Ebay seller. I cried reading her first letter and going through the stuff she sent…it was so completely unexpected and selfless of her to do that.

And then getting the second package….it literally blew me away. I have the leaves pressing in books, and then I’m going to follow her instructions to preserve them…I’ll share those with you here, since I went way over time in the video and had to chop big parts out:

This is a direct quote from felixmybizz’s letter:

“Place the leaves in books to flatten them
After they’re flattened and have dried a bit…
Cut two pieces of wax paper the same size
(You can cut the wax paper to place just one leaf on it or larger if you want to place a collection of leaves together)
Then take the second sheet of wax paper and place it over the top. Then, using a clothing iron on a medium setting, iron the wax papers together with the leaves in between. This preserves the leaves.
They come out great and can be framed if you like.”

Her Ebay shop is awesome. I got my mortar and pestle and my Gilded Tarot Deck there, but she sells ALL sorts of things, ranging from New Age/”Witchy” items (tarot decks, pendulums, mortar and pestles and crystals to trendy jewelry. And she’s just a fantastic person with the sweetest spirit…it’s people like her that restore my faith in humanity. (Along with many of you guys!)

Here’s the link to her Ebay store–go forth and buy! ;-)

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Christina. You are truly amazing and I’m so grateful for your kindness. (((Hugs)))
