Using tampons for the first time.. advice?

Filed under: thought for the day — admin @ 10:24 pm

Ok so I’m 14 and I got my first period 4 months ago. I’ve been using pads and have always thought they were a little gross, but for some reason the thought of using a tampon freaks me out! Anyway, I was sleeping over at my friends last night and got my period (so embarrassing! she gave me a few pads so it was okay) and now I’m home again. I wasn’t expecting to get my period until next week and I didn’t have any supplies, so I raided my Mom’s stash. My mom and brother are out of town until Thursday, so it’s just me and my Dad, and she only has a few pads! She DOES have a lot of tampons though. I’d be extremely embarrassed to ask my dad to buy me some more so I figured I’d try and use these tampons for during the day, and conserve the pads for at night.

The thing is these tampons are "Tampax Super with Cardboard Applicator" and let me just say these things are HUGE! The tip feels rough and the cardboard isn’t very smooth… I’ve been attempting to put them in and keep failing miserably because I’m just so nervous and I don’t think I can do it — I don’t even know if I’m putting them in the right spot! I’ve read the packaging instructions 10 times and looked it up online but I still think I can’t do it, it just freaks me out! I really want to learn to use them anyway because it’s summer and I love to go swimming but I know that these aren’t the best types of tampons to start off with.

I was wondering if anybody has some advice for me? I really don’t want to ask my Dad for more pads if I don’t need to, and I want to overcome my fear of tampons eventually anyway because everybody says they are sooo much better than pads. Do you have any tips or advice that will help me?! Thanks in advance. :)

First off, i hate to give you bad news but using a super for the first time may really hurt, if you can even get it in. It is best to use the smallest ones for your first time. i also recommend the plastic applicators they are much easier to work with. Try laying on your bed or in the bathroom put one leg on the toilet and bend over a little if you want to see what you are doing.
Find the opening and put about a 1/4 inch of the applicator inside of yourself. then push the end half and it should go up with no problem and you can remove the applicator by pulling on it. The entire tampon should be inside of you with the string all the way out for easy removal
Tip for swimming with tampons though- make sure you really tuck that string in good you dont want it to float outside your bathing suit!
Goodluck!

What are some good random acts of kindness?

Filed under: Random acts of kindness — admin @ 10:24 pm

I wanna do random acts of kindness that require a little bit of money (like $5 to $20) that take a little bit of time (like an hour or two)

My favorite is paying for another persons groceries. I am in a position thank God to share thus if a young parent with a small child on the check out line is in front of me I hand the Cashier cash toward her grocery bill. Another one done this Christmas was going to the Layaway Desk and paying money towards someones Christmas Layaway.

Dead Poets’ Society – Carpe Diem!

One of the best parts of the movie, and my very own personal philosophy. Keating inspires the boys to “Seize the day!!!”, as a prologue to his philosophy of free thought, transcendentalism, and individualism.

18.1.2012 – 1/4 – Natl. Def. Authorization Act Special

Natl. Def. Authorization Act Special:

In a special program on Wednesday night, George Noory was joined by Linda Moulton Howe to interview four guests, who appeared in individual half-hour segments, about the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) of 2012, which contains controversial provisions such as the holding of suspects without due process or habeas corpus. Jonathan Emord, who practices constitutional and administrative law, believes the NDAA is unconstitutional in that it allows the military to incarcerate individuals indefinitely, without charges or a trial. When this kind of thing happens in secrecy, without judicial check, it’s the end of liberty, he commented. Linda noted that the language in the Act doesn’t specify whether US citizens might be held under this kind of military authority with their rights suspended.

Independent journalist David Seaman reported that people across the political spectrum who hear about the NDAA are opposed to it, but because of the lack of the mainstream press coverage most Americans remain unaware of it. At this juncture, Congress has no reason to pass this kind of indefinite detention statute, and it raises the question that some hidden motivation is in play, said Linda. Seaman conjectured that the NDAA may eventually be used against Occupy protestors.

Producer Tyrel Ventura, the son of Jesse Ventura, suggested that the NDAA isn’t really about fighting terrorism but rather it’s to control the populace, in the event of rebellion, possibly related to food or water shortages, or other crises. We live in a corporate dictatorship, and many of these companies have connections to the Defense Dept. and it’s in their interests to have a lockdown society, he added. Trends analyst Gerald Celente declared that fascism has come to the US. He believes the NDAA has been put into place because there’s going to be “economic martial law,” and “bank holidays” which will cause rioting in the streets.

Appearing during the last hour, radio host/filmmaker Alex Jones sounded off on the topic, and related issues. “This is a big wake-up call, and they’ve been training the military for a long time to arrest citizens and take people to facilities,” he said, adding that measures like the NDAA are part of a larger program. For instance, the TSA is now operating checkpoints on highways, and at bus & train stations, and “this is really the seizure by the federal government, and the special interests that have hijacked it, of our entire infrastructure,” he said. Jones advised people to stand up against these policies– “like a bucking bronco, all we’ve got to do is throw the New World Order off our back.”

Atomic Testing Museum:

First hour guest, Cmdr. Allan Palmer, director of the Atomic Testing Museum located in Las Vegas, talked about the history of the testing of nuclear weapons, and some of the exhibits at their museum, which include a simulation of an atomic blast in the desert. In March, the museum will open a new exhibit on the secretive Area 51, informed by some of George Knapp’s investigative research, he announced.
