Random Acts of Kindness

“You are here to serve others, to be a light for them, to participate in their lessons and to help heal humanity. You are also here to serve yourself, to heal your karma, to enable your soul’s growth and reconnect to the Source. Your challenge is to find a balance between serving others and yourself so that you can accomplish the tasks that you established for yourself in this lifetime and even go beyond that. How you view your role in serving others is an important part of this process.”

Does anyone have any ideas for random acts of kindness?

Filed under: Random acts of kindness — admin @ 3:50 pm

Since the holidays are rolling around, I have considered several random acts of kindness. I live in a town with one stoplight, so travel is easy. Among them are dropping off a card or flowers on people’s doorsteps that have suffered a loss in the family or are just getting married–the newspapers keep me up to date w/ that stuff. I really need creativity. Suggestions?

I think it would be great to look for someone in the grocery store. Look at what they have in their cart, if they look like they’re struggling and it’s full of ramen noodles they’re probably broke. It would be a wonderful act to buy them a cart of groceries.

Ideas on kind acts to do for people I may not like?

Filed under: Kind acts — admin @ 3:50 pm

I’m a naturally outgoing person, so it wouldn’t be awkward for me to do something out-of-my-way nice. Any ideas? I’ve got…cards, candy, and a couple of compliments. (does not have to start with C!)

i think if u dont liek someone, they PROBABLY dont like u either… just saying, i ngeneral, but giving them candy or cards ulness its a holiday or smoething would probablycreep them out… i would just go with ur normal day stuff, if they drop something, help them out, compliments are okay, i guess.. but seriously if someone who i new dint like started giving me stuff.. i’d be freaked out… think u’ve got some ulterior motive or sumthing…

Do coffee machines that take nespresso pods take regular beans as well?

Filed under: Coffee machines — admin @ 3:50 pm

DH has heard good things about nespresso capsules/pods and is interested in getting a machine. Do all sorts of different coffee machines take the pods, or just particular ones, and if so, do they take regular beans as well, ground, or whole? Any recommendations?
Thanks for any help

The Nespresso machine range is pretty large, and are both automatic & manual, and of course with a price range to match!

However, they all use the capsule system (nespresso ones) and it’s not that you can use ground or regular beans, no The capusles come in different strengths and flavours, including decaf,

This is how Nespresso makes their money on the capsules, so they are not going to design a machine that uses regular beans, as they will lose out on the after-sales market which is the most profitable for them.

Just look at Nespresso.com for your region and you can see the machines available online in advance of buying

We brought just a simple one for espresso’s at home, and love it :0)

i got my period 9 days ago, i thought it was gone on the 6th day but it keeps coming back on and offf is this bad? should i go to the doctor. my friends say its ok because it is my period is this true? I got it again today but really late at night and no other time

When girls first get their periods they are very irregular. You could always ask your doctor about it if you are really nervous.

I’m writing a psych paper & i have 2 relate random acts of kindness to psychology. Any ideas?

Filed under: Random acts of kindness — admin @ 2:44 pm

I had to do 30 random acts of kindness and then in 5 pages explain how it relates to psychology. I don’t have a clue how it relates to psychology.

Couple quick areas to approach it from: (1) why you chose those specific acts to perform vs. others; (2) how you felt performing those acts; and (3) were there any benefits (may be your own feelings but also whether there was a positive or negative social response, etc).

FYI, I’m a cynic so I tend to think charity is often done for the charity doers benefit as much as or more than the charity receivers benefit.

What are the effects of appreciation of the dollar during a recession?

Filed under: Appreciation — admin @ 2:44 pm

If the value of the U.S. dollar went up relative to other currencies during a recession in the United States, why would this be a bad thing for the U.S.? Also, how could the Federal Reserve work with another central bank to stop this appreciation? Why might these actions fail?

usually during a recession the dollar will depreciate because the demand for money declines.

If the US dollar went up relative to other currencies during a recession in the US, it would be bad for the US economy because as the US dollar appreciates, US exports are relatively expensive to other countries. as a result, NX will drop.

Y = C + I + G + NX
if NX drops, Y also drops.
output (Y) decreases, according a Okun’s Law, unemployment will rise.

The Federal Reserve can work with another central bank to stop this appreciation through foreign market operations.
the Fed can sell US dollars and buy other currencies to stop the appreciation. (selling US dollars will increase the supply of USD and buying other currencies will decrease the supply of other currencies. both actions will put downward pressure on the price of USD in the foreign exchange market.)

These actions might fail because other countries will have an advantage in their exports if the US dollar is relative strong, so they might not want the US dollars to depreciate. Another reason might be that some countries have fixed exchange rates against the US dollar.
